Join us on Friday, July 7th for the Smith House Galleries' First Fridays Downtown Opening Reception! This month, the Smith House will showcase work from Staunton-based artist Mauricio Esperon, titled "Works on Paper." Refreshments will be provided.

Born in Uruguay on June 8, 1971, artist Mauricio G. Esperon first realized his love for art in elementary school. After studying graphic design in the mid ‘90s, Esperon moved to Miami, FL in 1999, where he began work at a printing company. Esperon began painting after reading books on Latin American art and has been greatly inspired by 19th century Uruguayan artist Joaquin Torres Garcia. He states that he enjoys painting irregular shapes and using complex and detailed colors that shock the public.

"Works on Paper" will be displayed in the Smith House Galleries July 7-28. The Galleries are open M-F, 9 AM-5 PM.
