First Baptist Church (Harrisonburg, VA) presents a live gospel concert, featuring the International Gospel Music Hall Inducted, Stellar Award-Winning, and Grammy-Nominated Luther Barnes and The Red Budd Gospel Choir. There will be additional performances by a local gospel group, as well as soloist favorites.

Luther Barnes is a native of Rocky Mount, North Carolina and the son of the late Bishop F. C. Barnes and The Late Willie Mae Barnes, who instilled in him a desire to trust and obey God's Word. Reverend Barnes is a graduate of the Nash-Rocky Mount School System, and a retired teacher. He is a graduate of Saint Augustine's College in Raleigh, NC with a BA in Music Education.

Reverend Luther Barnes said yes to his call into the preaching ministry in 2006 under the leadership of his father, Bishop F. C. Barnes, and has ministered the Word of God all across the United States. His anointing to sing, teach, and preach the gospel changes lives everywhere he ministers. He remains humble, so that God can continue to elevate him to new heights. His ultimate purpose over the years has been to share God's message of faith, hope, and love with the world.

Reverend Barnes is a gospel record producer, director, songwriter and composer, as well as the lead singer of "Luther Barnes and the Sunset Jubilaires" and "The Barnes Ensemble". He is also the President of Luther Barnes Song Ministries.

In his own quiet, unassuming manner, he has become one of gospel music's premier male vocalists. He has received numerous awards, commendations, and accolades, including: The Distinguished Graduate Award presented by Saint Augustine's College, the Stellar Award for Traditional CD of the year, a Gospel Heritage Award, a Grammy Award Nomination, the Truth Magazine Award (National Male Lead Singer of a Group, National Male Lead Singer of a Choir), a GMWA Excellence Award, and was named Best Traditional Male vocalist of the year in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Reverend Barnes is the Senior Pastor of Restoration Worship Center in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He has one daughter, Bonita Barnes Greene, who is married to Mark Greene, and a grandson, Joshua.
