All proceeds benefit Open Doors: Open Doors is an organization designed to help those most in need in our community. Their main focus is to provide a place of last resort for those who have nowhere else to go in our community. The shelter is open from November to April and is hosted by a different faith community in the Harrisonburg/Rockingham County area each week
In 2008, founder James Kiser called on some friends to assist on a concert idea with the intent to raise money for a local charity. As they say, “the rest is history.”
V.O.I.C.E.’s debut concert consisted of 17 singers and was performed in May of 2008; raising funds for the local American Cancer Society. Since 2008, V.O.I.C.E.’s benefit concerts have raised funds and awareness in the local community for organizations such as: The American Cancer Society, The Mercy House, The Blue Right Area Food Bank, Shenandoah Valley Autism Partnership, August Dog Adoptions, The Collins Center and more. Funds raised at each concert are given, 100% to a charity supported at that event.
In 2014 V.O.I.C.E. obtained their 501c3 status, officially. That exciting news raised the bar on the possibilities of growth as well as outreach. The process of selecting the charitable organization for each concert is as simple as a vote at each semester’s kick-off event.
