First Fridays Downtown 2017

Register your downtown Harrisonburg business or organization to participate as a venue in the monthly First Fridays Downtown 2017 season!

By participating in First Fridays Downtown, venues are expected to:

  • Commit to participate on the first Friday of each month throughout the year (January-December) and remain open from 5-8pm on the evening of each First Friday. Please note that participation in December is up to each business due to the Holiday Parade being held at 7pm. Most locations participate that night though they may close at 7pm for the parade.

  • Plan an art attraction to draw guests to your business such as an art show, live music or other performing arts, poetry reading, creative hands-on activities or demonstrations, etc. We encourage you to be creative and to feel free to vary what you offer each month. Providing light refreshments and snacks is also a nice addition!

  • Develop their own promotional strategy using whatever methods are most successful for your business (email, Facebook, etc.). Self-promotion is a very important compliment to publicity provided by Arts Council of the Valley. There is a First Fridays Downtown Facebook page which you are encouraged to LIKE and on which we ask that you post your monthly events.

Participating businesses and organizations receive:

  • Listing in 2017 FFDT brochure & map, which is distributed to each venue and additional locations throughout Harrisonburg-Rockingham
  • Listing on 2017 FFDT posters (2 sizes available), which are distributed to each venue and locations around Harrisonburg
  • FFDT brochures and poster(s) for your business
  • Listing each month on the ACV website. You will be asked to provide information about your artist/performer/event to ACV 1-2 weeks prior to each First Friday. We'll send out monthly emails requesting this information.

The cost to participate is $50 for January through December, 2017.

The deadline to be included on printed materials is Monday, November 21, 2016. We are aiming to have posters and brochures printed by the first week of December.
