In spring 2012, the National Center for Education Statistics and the US Department of Education released its decennial study on the status of arts education, Arts Education in Public Elementary and Secondary Schools: 2009-2010. This report provided national data about arts education for public elementary and secondary schools, elementary classroom teachers, and elementary and secondary music and visual art specialists. The executive summary shows that only 3% of elementary schools offer dance, only 4% offer theater and that offerings in all art forms except music have gone down since the last collection of this data a decade ago.

The Arts Council of the Valley provides art opportunities to over 30,000 individuals annually through its Court Square Theater, Advancing the Arts Grants, Art in the Park and First Friday programs, Darrin-McHone Gallery exhibitions, and community-based collaborations.
